The Veterans of Foreign Wars District 1, Department of Washington serves veterans in Snohomish County. With eight VFW Posts and a Military Order of the Cootie Pup Tent spread across historic Snohomish County, District 1 is dedicated to improving veterans’ lives.
Led by the District Commander, the District advocates for veterans’ needs and fosters a supportive environment for all veterans. Education and awareness about veterans’ issues are priorities. District 1 embodies patriotism, service, and dedication. Through shared stories and support, the District cultivates camaraderie. District 1 honors the enduring bond among veterans, ensuring their sacrifices are acknowledged and respected within their communities. The District’s main responsibility is to support the VFW‘s “grass roots” efforts in the community by each Post and Pup Tent.
“Comrades, we are assembled again to transact business of mutual benefit. Do not let petty jealousies or trivial personalities influence our deliberations.“
The previous excerpt is my favorite quote from our meetings. We are an organization whose members range in age from 18 to 100. We come from all walks of life. We do not all look the same, pray the same, vote the same, or love the same. Yet, as veterans we are one. We are a diverse and eclectic mix of individuals who served our nation. We swore an oath and signed the dotted line. Regardless of our differences, we are a team. We are Comrades. I’m honored to serve along side you.
